Chris is the second generation of his family to work with the public sector and is passionate about his role. Starting out in the research and information unit at Cambridgeshire County Council, he later moved to London to become a statistician and DBA for the statistical information service of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
He then worked as an analyst/programmer at Huntingdonshire District Council where he wrote every system in-house, followed by a 10-year stint at Fenland District Council. Brought in to implement community changes, he introduced 40 different systems during that time.
Chris also worked at Lancaster City Council, mainly as an Ingres/Oracle/Reality DBA, and worked his way up to ICT manager.
He was chairman of the North West region of the Society of IT Management (Socitm) in 2016/2017 and vice-president in 2017/2018.
His key skills include strategic thinking, digital leadership, collaboration and challenging the norm. He also has experience of journey/experience mapping, process mapping and wireframing, programme and project management, and procurement and supplier management.
